Scarlet Ibis

In what ways is the Scarlet Ibis that died in the narrator's yard similar to Dooddle ? In what ways can it be a symbol of Doodle ?

During the story a bird the scarlet Ibis interacts . I think the narrator is using the Scarlet Ibis as a simile to Doodle , because they both have similar features . The Scarlet Ibis is described as really dirty and disabled in his movement , so is Doodle . But mentally they are both alright or " all there" .  The Scarlet Ibis dies which foreshadows what will happen to Doodle , because the Scarlet Ibis is the symbol for Doodle .

Another fact is that no one in the family wants to burry the bird besides Doodle . The brother just left the Scarlet Ibis in the garden just like he left his brother behind just that he never felt sorry for the bird. The family is also making fun how Doodle is burying the bird , they think that the bird was already disabled so he wasn't " worth anything " but for Doodle he was because he doesn't want the same thing to happen to him . He wants people to burry him when he will die and maybe he could feel that his death will be soon .

The narrator foreshadows Doodle's death a bunch of times with different symbols . For example how the weather changes . The whole sky gets dark and covered with clouds . The narrator describes it with : " half the sky and thunder roared out , hiding even the sound of the sea . " or " the dun disappeared and darkness descended , almost like night ."

I think that the Scarlet Ibis was a symbol of Doodle because he went through the same process as Doodle and foreshadows the end of the story .
